Quick Take: The Rover (2014)

theroverAfter the Australian mob family drama Animal Kingdom, you expect David Michôd’s The Rover to show some signs of life. There’s not much life, but you will see a lot of chillingly plausible ideas for life after an apocalyptic event: the devaluing of money, dogs wandering the land after being left behind by their owners, needless killing over a car. Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson are interesting performers at the center of a cold, aimless movie. I don’t really know what to think of this one. But I didn’t feel anything, and that’s enough to tell me that Michôd & Co. misfired here.

Quicker take: Edward Cullen: acting!
