Song of the Hour: ‘Out of the Woods’ by Taylor Swift

Dear Harry,

First of all, you’re in good company. Having a song written about you by Taylor Swift might seem like a joke now, but look at who else has that honor: Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner…okay, on second thought, there’s really only one respectable name on that list. Turns out it’s not good company. But take heart, Harry- this is the rare song in which Taylor’s not calling you out or saying you’re mean or accusing you of being unable to commit. Instead, she’s basically saying that things were just too complicated and the fire burned too bright and romantic stuff like that. And look at it this way: you’ve inspired the best song on a soon-to-be classic pop album, helping Taylor finish her country-music purge with the refining fire of ’80s synth-pop. You’re contributing to music history! Good on you, Harry!

Hugs and kisses,
Coulda Been a Contender
