This group of performers has their brand of improvisational comedy (the Judd Apatow special) down to a science at this point. Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) seems to have learned the lesson that eluded Judd Apatow after The 40-Year-Old Virgin: less is more. Editors are a comedy director’s friend, and Stoller has allowed Neighbors to function as an insightful document of post-college stress in large part because he kept it under two hours. There’s no filler in Neighbors; Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, and Dave Franco toss one-liners like they’re hot rolls, and the supply is seemingly inexhaustible.
