Quick Take: The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

The best thing I could say about Tokyo Drift is that, in a premise that was rife with possibilities for terrible Asian stereotypes, the movie mostly dodges any hints of racism. What the movie does not dodge is premise fatigue. We get it, Fast/Furious– you like cars. It doesn’t help that Drift doesn’t have the star power of Paul Walker or Vin Diesel. Instead, Lucas Black stars, and he’s terribly charmless and annoying. So far, the series has just gotten worse. Not a good sign.

Quicker take: Maybe it’s a parody?
